Offshore
Mining and Ecology
Developing
and third world countries are now exploring deep sea and offshore
mining for minerals such as diamonds and other rare minerals
with international corporate interests. Our concern is focused
on the environmental impact these industrial exploration of
our oceans will have on ocean environments and aquatic life.
Over the years we have witnessed an increase in interest and
endeavors by mining and mineral companies such as African
diamond mining companies to develop profitable offshore mining
projects. The larger diamond mining companies are equipped
with modern mining equipment, which allows them a certain
amount of resources to consider environmental concerns; however
even with their resources there is significant risk in environment
disasters.
However
the smaller mining companies are not equipped with the resources
and technology to reduce the impact on the fragile ocean environment,
which will certainly cause significant dangers and environmental
threats that cannot be reversed for years to come, or even
in our children’s lifetime. The answer to our growing
concern is to be involved with offshore mining, drilling companies,
environmental agencies and governments around the world in
joint venture in order to supply modern and advanced mining
equipment as well as providing complete environmental impact
support on the mining and drilling zones in order to reduce
environmental threats.
We
cannot completely prevent offshore mining ventures, but with
resources and joint ventures we can greatly reduce the damage
of offshore mining and drilling. With a focus on the transfer
of eco-friendly technology, will involve certain difficulties
such as the ability to utilize or maintain the technologies
due to the lack of financial resources of third world mining
companies and their ability to support facilities of the mining
operations. The lack of or inability of local governments
and laws in favor of strict environmental support can cause
problems with environmental concerns. The answer is to develop
a special environmental group that will work with an international
trust funding groups and global humanitarian groups that will
support these types of projects to save the fragile aquatic
environments on a global level.
The
transfer of technologies can consist of the exploration of
mineral resources, detection of resources, evaluation of those
resources, economic development, mining technologies such
as eco-friendly dredging, drilling, recovery, transportation,
storage facilities, processing and disposal of waste material.
By
partnering with mining companies, MNL Consulting
is working to develop eco-friendly mining technologies. The
mining companies we are assisting are working with advanced
technologies groups to research new low environmental impact
dredging equipment for offshore mining. Offshore and deep-sea
mining technologies have improved considerably over the years
and are still capital-intensive, however these technologies
are not totally eco-friendly.
Below
is an image of the continental shelves around the world seen
below in yellow were potential offshore drilling and mining
exploration can take place.

We
have made progress in the development of a new group titled
"The Aquatic Research and Development Group", with
the primary focus on environmental impact studies and the
transfer of technologies to reduce environmental threats due
to industrial exploration and development of offshore mining
and drilling.
Our
group of experts has begun designing mining, exploration and
marine conservation ships, which would be capable of operating
non-stop for months at a time. Ore would be transferred to
bulk carriers and shuttled between the mining ships and shore
processing plants where they will be processed at the onshore
mining facility. The slag or waste byproducts will be contained
and processed according to their toxicity. Silt, fine sands
and other useable slag from mining will be recycled for construction
and building material for poverty communities.
Joint
ventures with offshore diamond mining can be used to not only
lessen environmental impacts, they can actually become beneficial
economically to fund humanitarian projects, as well as be
highly profitable to offshore mining companies.
Global
Projects
MNL
Consulting and our partnered organizations are committed
to the exploration of precious commodities such as oil, diamonds,
gold, silver, platinum, etc. MNL’s
involvement with these projects are to work with new advanced
technologies to reduce environmental impact and to secure
badly needed funds for humanitarian projects in the country
which the oil, gems or precious metals are being mined. No
matter what is being mined, resources are limited and when
those resources are drained, what is left in a third word
country that will benefit people and communities. Our partnered
organizations have the ability to utilize resources or mining
operations to the benefit of a country. In third world countries
we provide complete support in improving the quality of life
for the miners and their families. We also pair up mining
companies with technology groups and international trading
groups that can leverage or place commodities into international
trade programs that can result in greater profits without
completely drain local resources.

working with to employ new eco-friendly technologies and to
secure project funds for community empowerment projects.
